Yohji Yamamoto
Yohji Yamamoto is a Japanese fashion designer based in Tokyo and Paris. Considered a master tailor alongside those such as Madeline Vionnet,he is known for his avant-garde tailoring featuring Japanese design aesthetics
I like Yamamotos work with white fabrics as he creates simplistic garments with different transparencies of fabric and also uses length and layers in his work.
Japanese couturier Yohji Yamamoto's designs are often referred to as fashion tailoring with an architectural approach. Taking his inspiration from menswear, his womenswear collections consist of big, oversized silhouettes, marked by almost solely being black, draping and geometrical shapes.
Yohji Yamamoto likes to create most of his garments in black as he says "black is lazy and easy - but mysterious", however he has some garments which are created in white white are affective in showing his style, aesthetic and his way of garment construction.
Focusing on his white garments for this project still show the beauty of his garments and the techniques he uses to create such pieces with a single colour or shade of colours. He uses techniques like cutting on the bias and fold and pleats to create red both simplistic andcrazy designs.
