Junya Watanabe

Doug Evans

Junya Watanabe is a Japanese fashion designer, a

protégé of Comme des Garçons designer Rei

Kawakubo. He continues to work for Comme des

Garcons; His atelier is located on the second floor

of its Tokyo headquarters, and he produces four

shows a year in Paris.

I like these garment designs and the techniques used such as ruched fabrics and the opposing draped excess fabrics to create a tight fitted body and a loose flowing bottom.

Inspired by both traditional and techno fabrics, the experimental designer was a protégé of Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garçons , where his label lives.

Junya Watanabe is renowned for his avant-garde style; in particular, his exploration of nen cutting concepts, his ingenious sourcing of fabrics and innovative draping techniques.

I like Junya Watabes garments as he creates flowing garments and oversized pieces withtechniques ke rain andpuckered fabrics. These

techniques inspire me and maybe come a part in my final piece for the white on white garment creation.
