What is embellishment?
Embellishment is a decorative detail or feature added to something to make it more attractive.
I like my own samples as they show how you can layer with embellishing and create texture with a distressed look which I may use as my sub theme.
Distressing trial with embellishing
I like this sample as it shows how I can purposefully distress something and then repair it for an aged look.
What is heat distressing?
Heat distressing is applying heat to a fabric and manipulate it into a shape or to stay a certain way.
Layering of netted fabrics can be achieved as the heat has been applied to sculpt holes and merge the layers into one another.
My own attempts:
As you can see the heat gun has burnt a hole from being too close. The heat has melted the layers together. I like this technique as it melts the layers together adding textures and making the fabric more interesting. However, this didn't work as well as it should because of the fabric used as they didn't melt well into one another.
What is heat setting?
Heat setting is like heat distressing, where you use heat to hold fabric or plastic into a set place. This melts the plastic to fabrics to hold creases and keep the desired shape that I wanted.
My heat setting samples
I like these samples as they show how a layer of plastic can set creases adding to my distressed look.
