London Aquatics Centre
The London Aquatics Centre was originally designed by world-renowned, award winning architect Zaha Hadid in 2004.
The building was designed to blend into the surrounding area and also capture the water within it where Olympic events take place.
A concept inspired by the fluid geometry of water in motion, creating spaces and a surrounding environment in sympathy with the river landscape of the Olympic Park. An undulating roof sweeps up from the ground as a wave, enclosing the pools of the Centre with its unifying gesture.
Throughout the building you can see key characteristics which are featured in many of Zaha Hadid’s designs from big glass windows to elegant curving concrete to represent all of her inspirations.
